| 5.0 classic | Illitoris | January 9th 10 | This is the epitome of punk rock, stripped of its Black Flag-esque metal components, and left shivering in the nude. If more present hardcore bands sounded as belligerent as the pre-teen vocals of Mark McCoy, then felching bands like Swamp Thing, the Mongoloids, (excellent choice for a band name because that is exactly what they sound like) and Cruel Hand would have ceased to exist. McCoy has put out numerous, innovative, sold-out records on Youth Attack! and was one of the best performers I had witnessed live in quite a while with his current project, Failures.

| 4.0 excellent | thebbqshrimp | July 10th 09 | Unbelievable band. Completely underrated and definitely deserves more notice than they get. Heavily influenced by pioneers of the genre such as Infest, Charles Bronson brings an aggressive, powerful brand of punk. Spin-off bands include The Locust and Das Oath. Also, their genre is definitely not hardcore. It's either powerviolence or thrashcore.

| 4.0 excellent | TheManMachine | June 12th 12 | Great fast hardcore/powerviolence with snotty vocals, samples-a-plenty, hatred for everything from Ricki Lake & Jerry Springer to sex & cigarettes, and some semi-obscure covers (Neos, Necros, Husker Du). The 2nd disc is somewhat useless, but the first is a nice chronological discography; all the way from their first demo tape to their most polished and possibly best material, the Youth Attack! 10", with the rest consisting of tracks mostly from splits and compilations. Obviously lots of songs here, but overall it is quite consistent, and is one of the more fun and humorous discographies of the genre.

| 3.5 great | Blackbelt54 | March 13th 11 | This is punk in the most raw form possible. It somehow finds a way to strip down punk even more than it already is. Extremely short, fast, in-your-face songs filled with samples and spoken words in between. Charles Bronson are about as good as powerviolence gets. This is perhaps the only album and/or compilation with 100+ songs on it that I can listen to all the way through.r
