Goldfinger has come a long way from their easygoing, ska-crazy roots. This album showed an almost complete transition in Goldfinger from smart-alecky ska to cut-and-dry punk, almost pop-punk. Most of the songs sound the same (yet another symptom of pop-punk,) and most of them take a much more serious viewpoint compared to their previous work. The epitome of this serious, emotional standpoint is in the self-titled single Open Your Eyes, which is a fierce attack on animal rights protestors. The album is definitely the low point of Goldfinger's musical career, but it still showcases some good guitar work and creative lyrics.
