| 4.5 superb | olisz | May 29th 20 | This is, in my opinion, the best post punk album of this century so far. Every track slaps. The lyrics are on point, I love the dark dark humor involved on many of these, as well as the criticism which lies behind it. For me, "My Sister" is one of the best album closers ever and feels especially rewarding when the "She's trying to reach you" line from the opener comes back. Just an incredible experience.

| 4.2 excellent | Erwann S. EMERITUS | December 3rd 19 | Post-punk was so huge this decade. Ofc it was nothing compared to hip-hop, or even atmospheric black metal, but there was something bizarre happening this decade about the genre. This is no mere revival, like we saw in the early 2000s, this is a modern take on, eg, The Fall. Musically, this got the bouncy post-punk bass we all love, the shrill guitars, the militaristic drums, and finally, the deep, fake-English-accent voice distilling metaphors about modern life, without ever linking these metaphors to true events or people, allowing them to stay mysterious and thus interesting.

| 0.0 | PlaqueDoctor | October 22nd 17 | well let’s start this up then shall we;
first track; it’s a private understanding of what exactly i s’pose we’ll see; man those drumlines kick, kind of disorganised though; oh the bassline started now it makes sense; that’s a smart move right there turning something messy into something sharp and tuneful; this track makes me sad, don’t know why; oh okay now i know the acoustic guitars explain it it’s a trippy track for real hope this isn’t all there is to it; holy cow the outro is blazing i feel like falling into some kind of abyss of sound and sorrow;
second track; better not disappoint after all the uh the bar was set pretty high; well this is much swifter guess the album’s picking up the speed; the lyrics and their delivery seem to be like a stream of unfiltered thought; driving almost raunchy i like that; could use some more pleasant melody maybe but still decent;
third track; okay back to the slow brooding sorrow i guess; oh it’s different though from the first track that was sad this is more cynical i guess; huh speeds up; huh cocky that’s good;
fourth track; right into the action; rapid very rapid; oh that’s it huh oh well;
fifth track; here’s the more whachacallit eased out melody; god those vocals don’t work here; cool lyrics and music i guess but put some emotion into it man;
sixth track; brooding me like; you’re testing my patience a little how long’s this gonna go like this; oooookay now it’s on baby; this is the jam; see that’s what i meant before like the whatwasit the first track has that but the others don’t that that the a the combination of nice melody and harder like music n such;
seventh track; whoa what is this a poppunk track get outta here; think i’ve heard this already this year on that brand new album; haha; this is nice but nothing much; i don’t know;
eighth track;
no wait need to go now;
okay i’m back;
eighth track; it’s kinda like that one that i liked sure sounds like it yeah; defenestrate the king is a cool line; slower too but i like that; whoa *** here we go it starts yeah; so uh it’s like that all the time huh; the bridge is a nice uh nice change of pace lovely view for sure; cool
ninth track; another slower one; not grabbing yet c’mon you can do better; still waiting; progresses now nothing special though;
tenth track; this is better i like the action here; stronger vocals too; haha male plague huh i feel you brother;
eleventh track; slower one again we just had a good quick tempo one why this again; well at least it has some kind of punchier vibe man; it’s uh yeah dunno; egh
twelfth track; slow; huh nice reference in the lyrics there; nothing much to report here; cool lyrics still but the music’s not; ooh it ties in lyrically with the first song ooh… why tho?

| 5.0 classic | didnt ask to be staff, was made staff anyway, then got demoted for not doing staff stuff | May 31st 20 | A riot of an album, but like in an aged, grumpy, sophisticated way. It's a riot, but with an aching back and he has to be in bed by ten, cause his AA sponsor told him so. It's a riot with unpaid alimony, but the kids are of age now, so he just lets it go. It's a jaded, mind-faded riot.

| 3.0 good | notkanyewest | October 6th 17 | Never been a huge fan of these guys, but I think hewing mostly to the standard post-punk playbook
allows Joe Casey to really shine, and the highs are very very high ("My Children", "The Chuckler")
