Probably the best Hard Rock live album ever recorded. All songs are memorable, and this Child in Time version has become timeless.

As impressive as the first 3 Mark II Era albums are (and I dig Who Do We Think We Are as well, unpopular as it may be), they never quite captured the band's full potential. That potential is truly unleashed live, as demonstrated by this recording. It captures the band in their prime, delivering an energy you won't quite get in their studio work. it might well be said that this is the essential Deep Purple recording.

Probably the best live rock recording ever. The interplay between Blackmore and Lord at their peak are what made DP so special and never more so than on Highway Star and Lazy. Get the extended version with Black Night and Speed King.

Take a bunch of three and four minute songs, and make them, like, ten minutes longer with more guitar wankery. Sounds like a bad idea, but it fucking worked for Deep Purple. While the long, indulgent solos prove that Richie Blackmore is a self-centered prick, it makes some great rock music.

Deep Purple- made in Japan is an absolute classic live album, the live recordings of "Highway star", "smoke on the water" and "Sweet child in time" are way better than the studio versions. Ritchie Blackmore is on fire and Jon lord displays his infinate ability on the organ , Brilliant to say the very least.
