This is my first review so don't just say it sucks, give constructive criticism.
I have been a Mustard PLug fan for a large portion fo my life, and this album was no let down. In my opinion, Evildoers Beware was by far their best album, and none of the albums since then have really been up to par. When I found out this album was being recorded in the same studio as Evildoers Beware, my expectations suddenly skirocketed. Mustard Plug is known for catchy, crisp, fun-ska instrumentally and lyrically. This album ventured away from that image in many songs, yet there are still some classic mustardy tunes.
Songs such as "Over the Edge", and "Puddle of Blood" show Mustard Plug''s darker side with deeper lyrics ("Puddle of blood on the streets of gold, Don't try to buy my soul, it's already sold") and a rougher more complicated sound/composition. The the sound is not as happy and poppy as Mustard Plug used to be, yet it is still very enjoyable.
They have changed their sound some, but if you are a lover of the "old" Mustard Plug, such as I am, have no fear. The Old Mustard sound is still mixed into the album in songs such as "Hit Me! Hit Me!" and "What You Say". They even threw in a Reel Big Fish sounding song with a pop-punk feel, "Real Rat Bastard", which is sure to get stuck in your head.
All in all i give this album 4.5 out of 5 because it has something for every type of third-wave ska fan to listen to.
