The Black Angels certainly fell into a comfort routine with 'Death Song', but their routine certainly is not one that I can fault them for. Their strengths, which they display in full on the record, are in writing and producing very liquid, contemplative tracks that sound vigorous, despite turning to some rather familiar influences and, again, comfort routine.
