| 2.5 average | Panzerchrist | June 11th 17 | Iced Earth have a distinctly different singer in ex-Into Eternity Stu Block, and that's why it's so fucking frustrating to hear Jon Schaffer continue to write tracks that force him to impersonate previous vocalist Matt Barlow on virtually every track on this album. Three albums deep and he still has literally no presence in this band.
As far as the MUSIC is concerned, this is Iced Earth on the autopilot-ist of autopilots. While some of their previous releases had some kind of conceptual bend that seemed to push them to experiment sonically (to varying degrees of success, but I digress) this one feels disappointingly straightforward. Coming off of their previous release, though, this will feel, unfortunately, like par for the course.

| 3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | June 23rd 17 | You can never expect Iced Earth to return to the quality of stuff like Burnt Offerings and Night Of The Stormrider, but you wouldn't be overly optimistic to expect that they produce at the very least some solid power metal. It's been nearly thirty years since the band began, and the notion that they're still penning at least somewhat reputable tunes is impressive. Incorruptible does start out pretty shaky, with the band falling into the trap of mid-placed chugging riffing that made their albums in the mid 2000's a slog to get through. The second half really picks things up, though, with a nice sense of speed and melodicism juxtaposed quite nicely with some slower somber moments and even a solidly written instrumental. Stu Block continues to be great, as if that were ever in question, and the band as a whole seem like they're enjoying themselves very much. They deserve that in the least for what they've been able to do as one of the United States' leading power metal groups.

| 3.0 good | Xenorazr | June 20th 17 | Marginally better (but still more enjoyable) than Dystopia and a relatively nice bounce-back from Plagues of Babylon. Iced Earth are at a point where we really can't expect any curveballs, even from Stu Block. All of Incorruptible feels like a retread over previous material from Dark Saga onward, which isn't a bad thing; this allows the album to feel just varied enough to keep listeners committed until the end.

| 3.0 good | Trey STAFF | June 18th 17 | It's Iced Earth doing what Iced Earth has always done. It's never bad, but it's definitely not exciting anymore.

| 3.5 great | Gbhill | June 16th 17 | Upon first impression digging this a lot more than Plagues and potentially more than Dystopia. To my ears, this is a lot more varied than anything they've done since Great Burden so I'm pretty happy so far. Hope I enjoy the next spin as much.
