3.5 great | Panzerchrist | June 1st 17 | My immediate thought about halfway through my first listen was "This is Diet SikTh". The vocals are leveled needlessly high in the mix, and they're especially irritating when you realize they just do a worse job imitating the band's past vocalist, Justin Hill, with more of a flare for the typical metalcore clean vocal approach. The guitar work is more reigned in as well, with there being more of a focus on vocal harmonies and slower, chuggier riffs. The band has always had these, but they're much more prominent here, and lead to some of the tracks coming off as monotonous on occasion.
A couple listens in, however, and the full answer is this: SikTh are still SikTh, and even with a more serious, streamlined approach, there are still some noticeable highs here. Riddles of Humanity has one of the fastest, snappiest riffs in the band's discography, Ride the Illusion feels like a proper realization of the band's newest priorities, and the overall concept, bolstered by a series of spoken word interludes, really sets the tone as well as makes these tangent tracks feel more unified. While any trepidation will, to some extent, feel warranted here, this is still a solid album, and is worth a check for fans of more abstract metalcore.

4.0 excellent | cloakanddagger | June 1st 17 | Clean vocals are more prominent on this than previous releases, but it's still definitely a Sikth
album. Joe Rosser will never match Justin Hill as a vocalist, but listening to this is still a
treat from start to finish, even if the silliness has been somewhat toned down.

4.5 superb | Tundra | August 25th 23 | Highly underrated, while many were let down by this, taking the approach similar to a lot of modern metalcore bands, SikTh's tried and true unique quirks easily make them stand out from all of their contemporaries in a huge way. The compositions here, are, of course, much more scaled back than prior releases, lending for more accessibility, and it works here brilliantly. The riffs are as fantastic as ever here, and with a modern polished sheen to the production, it is a real treat to the senses.

4.0 excellent | 0GuyMan0 | October 25th 17 | Bumping this because I fucking love it. The only song I really don't dig is the one with Spencer Sotello. His voice kind of annoys me sometimes. And that chorus really makes me miss Justin, even though homeboy does a fucking great job on the rest of the album.

3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | June 6th 17 | It's tough not to mention SikTh's magnum opus Death Of A Dead Day when speaking about The Future In Whose Eyes? not only because they're eleven years apart from each other while being adjacent in SikTh's discography (as far as full-lengths go), but also because this new album is more or less just a modernized, slightly less insane iteration of that past work. That's not necessarily a bad thing as SikTh are a pretty unique band, and the songwriting consistency here certainly rivals its predecessor. Still, some things are lost in translation; the production doesn't pack the same punch as before, and the vocals are even more toned down, putting this behind their magnum opus and even behind their earliest full-length on the batshit scale. It's hard to fault SikTh for continuing to perform and perform wonderfully with a sound that is unmistakably theirs, and therefore, The Future In Whose Eyes? is a good record. That said, one wonders what their next opus shall bring to the table.

3.5 great | VanFullOfSpooks | June 5th 17 | Good album but they are playing it WAY too safe. Vocals are terrific but they need to embrace more of their old sound. Not a terrible album but it is disappointing when compared to their older stuff.

5.0 classic | andr111 | June 3rd 17 | Don't understand the complaints. The album is amazing, even from the first listen. The guys are
operating at the edge of explored musical possibility as always, completely unmatched by anyone.
Finally a breath of fresh air - worth the 11 years wait. I can't even call them masters - this is
impossible to master, it is a direct link to another dimension. I'm pretty sure even they don't
understand how the f they can write this stuff lol
