Looks like the sort of bird who you'd meet at college and go out with but ditched because you thought you could rdo better and her breath kicked up so it didn't really matter anyway until a few years pass and now look at her. rShe's done a quality album and what have you done with your life? Nothing except write up meaningless drivel ron music websites.

Minimal but perhaps too minimal in some places. Ambient but at times too restrained. A commendable and strong first effort for Kelly Lee Owens falls a bit short of greatness because in the end Owens relies on the same key elements a bit too much. Dwelling on an idea is fantastic if the idea itself is incredibly strong but if the idea is anything less than that the patience of the listener is tested as the runtime goes on. The stripped down, wavering bassy electro beats are well done and Kelly's very minimal, delicate vocal approach does a good job suiting them but in the end, the package as whole leaves you yearning for something to grasp onto.

The eponymous debut full-length from one Kelly Lee Owens is a dive into minimalist pop and ambient techno that showcases a commendable talent not only in songwriting and singing, but in producing as well. The record is a web of only her weaving, as she handles everything here; that it can be so minimal and yet cover many bases when it comes to emotions and vibes is already great enough, but that she's able to hold the whole thing together through her own accord and hers only is very impressive. Things can get a bit too minimal at certain points, as closer "8" seems to drag on endlessly repeating, but for every moment like that, there's a moment like the chorus to "Keep Walking"; mildly catchy, very intimate, and quite gorgeous. It's clear she's been working on this craft, and although there is improvement to be had, it would be of no surprise at all were she to accomplish that feat given the rock solid template she's laid for herself here.

At best a hypnotic ambientechouse piece full of whispers and poppy melodies, and at worst an ok-ish background wall of bleep bloops, this s/t album already shows that Owens is at her best when her calm hushes accompanies the poppiest territories of ambientechouse. A teeny tiny tad too monochrome tho.

I've been listening to this album quite a lot. It's blends ambient pop and techno perfectly and it
makes for a really entertaining listen in how it sways between the two genres, but always exists in
its own world. It has pretty soundscapes and melodies, but also minimalist electronic jams. 8 is
such a jam. The repetition is hypnotic.

pretty pop ambient techno. I'm not much a fan of the more techno (repetitive) tracks, but the ambient pop on here is really good. Owens' voice and use of ambient textures go together fantastically, and her instrumental work is fairly noteworthy in general.
