| 3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | March 9th 17 | All Day, Every Day, All Night is pretty midwestern-style emo and math rock played really close to the vest. Unspectacular though it may be, the path to improvement and a subsequent better album is pretty obviously laid out. Generally on this album, the faster the tempo and the louder the volume, the better the songs. The band's songwriting isn't very good on these slower, quieter songs, and can't really write those as well as your Empire! Empire!'s or your Tiny Moving Parts'. That being said, when the band is playing fast and loud, they sound like champs; passionate, kind of sloppy, yet the songwriting is most definitely there. Thus, it's simple: either release an album of only the faster stuff or get better at writing the slower stuff (although that's much easier said than done), and they'll come out with an album that yours truly would have no qualms calling swell. As for this release, the first three tracks and a few near the end are killer, so jam those and if you're alright with the slower material, you'll definitely enjoy this.
