It's weird how they keep making lulzy Deafheaven references in their titles, while their music is rexplicitly lifted from Woods of Desolation--and they apparently don't even realize it.rI'll also say that the first 1:30 of "Thrones" sounds like it was straight ripped from Ethereal rShroud, which is hilarious since Noctus loathes this band rofl.

The music is really good post rock/black metal, but the vocals are just abstract screeches and screams. The lazy vocals hold back what could have been a really good release.

This has a bunch of really excellent moments ruined by the horrid songwriting that haphazardly ties them together. I love major key black metal, but there is something off about this record.

Ghost Bath draw heavy influences from Deafheaven. I'm totally fine with that since I love Deafheaven but as is usual, it doesn't come close to the greatness of its influence.

The biggest problem with this album is that it's just too long and doesn't even come close to earning half of its length (over 70 minutes). There are some good aspects and qualities, but they get lost in a mix of music that becomes more tiresome and confusingly awkward as things go on. Your experience will come down to some degree of tolerance, but objectively speaking, nothing much to note in the grand scheme of things.

Aside from all the negative press, I never really had an opinion on Ghost Bath... They were just sort of "there." But good lord, this album is an overlong haphazard mess. There are actually moments on this that made me laugh out loud, the shoehorned in happy leads never work how they should, and the production is bafflingly bad. Way to make a name for yourselves for all the wrong reasons, Ghost Bath. Album truly is bad/10, but they get a .5 boost for the admittedly sweet album art.

Meandering black metal and folk passages awkwardly joined at the hip with major key riffs strangely reminiscent of the Sonic Adventure soundtracks, with unintelligible Silencer-esque wails layered over it all to create a cacophonous mess. Terrible songwriting and a mix so bad I'm questioning whether it was some kind of money laundering scheme instead

there's of course the transitions that are worthy of derision, but the real failure of this
album is that ghost bath further committed to lyric-less vocal delivery while elevating the
vocals in the mix. it is simply impossible to come away from this album not noticing just
how stupid he sounds
