Avatarium's third effort finds them wondering more in '70s heavy rock/prog territories rather than
producing a doom metal sound. Hurricanes And Halos is influenced by the likes of Uriah Heep
(hence the increased use of the Hammond), Deep Purple ("Into The Fire / Into The Storm") and even
Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell such as on the heavy "Medusa Child" with the unexpected mid-section.
However as good as the album is, it somewhat falls behind in the songwriting department which
makes me wonder if I will find myself in the mood to jam it repeatedly in the future.
