4.0 excellent | Alabaster Jones | February 17th 17 | After a blisteringly fast start to 2016, in which, depending on who you ask, Future continued or ended his massive run of quality material dating back to 2014's Monster, Future finally seemed to slow down somewhat. With FUTURE, he's right back at it again, sounding involved and lively over some unsurprisingly excellent production. Lyrically this album is far more street-centric than anything he put out last year, with some genuine bangers like opener "Rent Money", early favorite "Mask Off", "Scrape", and closer "Feds Did A Sweep". It has a bit of a throwback vibe to it as well, bringing back memories of tapes like True Story at many points throughout the record. The production, handled by the likes of Southside, Metro Boomin', Zaytoven, TM88, and DY, suits Future perfectly and effortlessly provides imposing and hard-hitting vibes while occasionally switching to a more subdued, even smooth sound on tracks like "Mask Off". It's good to see Fewtch getting back into his game, and hopefully this will lead to more great projects in the (possibly) near future.

2.0 poor | literallyzach | February 17th 17 | An absolutely bland tape with no new innovations or interesting twists on the formula Future's been running into the ground.

3.0 good | Bedex | November 15th 20 | An album that has quite a few strong track and isn't just about Mask Off, but that lacks identity and is too long and too structurally erratic to be called a strong record overall. This is especially blatant in the last three tracks. While 15
is run of the mill Future with a kidna cool instru, it ends on a long skit that breaks the rhythm, then 16 tries to be a cute track which doesnt fit at all with the rest of the album, and while 17 is fine with its flutey bits, all of that feels
long and unnecessary for an LP that clocks at just over 1hr. 1 has a cool insturmental but the vox early on are a bit questionable, 2 is classic semi-fat future that gets a bit repetitive, 3 doesnt have the best instrumental but good vocal
delivery (and the first skit). 4 has ideas but does not execute them well, cant believe it was supposed to be the lead single. 5 again is generic Future, but it gets better towards the end in both instru and vox. 6 and of course 7 are good
Future jams, and 8 is a famous track that also works quite well and brings fresher, lighter aesthetics. 9 sounds a bit funny but it's alright, while 10 contrasts it with a dark, metro boomin type vibe. 11 is a bit snoozey, then 12 is a great
elegant track with minimalistic piano. 13 is club twerky, 14 hits hard in place but feels a boot snoozey overall, and remember we still have those 3 other tracks to go through. See, a bit too long and erratic, but lots of good tracks too. The
Drake bonus track is actually quite good, but the other two are a waste of time (the Kendrick feat being surprisingly poor). 3.0

2.5 average | TheManMachine | March 24th 17 | This protracted platter of familiar Future fodder drops the inevitable handful of bangers and a few distinct beats-n-flows -- after all, studied grimness and catchy hooks can possess the ability to possess without much effort elsewhere. But like 2014's 'Monster', this coulda shoulda been half as long; and unlike Monster, shifts are seldom and persona is dwindling and there's a pair of insufferable radio-call-in skits. Longer than Monster, too. Feelings are saved for last per ushe and provide highlights per ushe too, unless you count the flute-sublimity unmasking around the midway mark feelings: "Percocets, molly, percocets / Chase a check, never chase a bitch" goes the chorus. A suitable summary at this point sure, but can ya at least talk about pissing em out+off again?

3.0 good | dihstyle69 | February 17th 17 | for once, i can understand what future is saying. that's the best thing he brought to this tape, an improved delivery. some of the beats are crazy too and the project definitely contains some of future's best tracks to date, like poa and mask off. however, at over 1h with content this repetitive, there's no way you gon listen to this without a lot of pauses throughout. it drags and the quality is more questionable towards the back end of the album. a huge improvement over his last shitty mixtapes, but he needs to keep things short next time. 3-
