It's got an undeniably repetitive formula throughout, but The Renovation has a small bit of replay value at the very least. Doses of melody are here to keep this deathcore release from burning out of steam, and Tyler Guida's gutturals are suitable for the overall direction My Bitter End strive for.

When listening to the first few tracks, you get the feeling that this album will be 50/50 brutal and melodic. However, as the album goes on, this ratio starts sliding in favour of brutal and suddenly the last few tracks are just three minute breakdowns. Whatever melody is left in them seem to be recycled licks that were just put in there for the hell of it. The vocals are nasty throughout, similar to that of The Hero, The Fake which may be hit or miss with listeners.

Compared to most deathcore, this album is outstanding. It blends melody into something so heavy and chaotic. In my opinion, it is a breath of fresh air in a genre so stale with typical riffs and breakdowns. Example: As Blood Runs Black
