Classic old school death metal. Probably the most technical DM band at the time. The title track is among the best death metal songs ever made.

I really respect the stylistic choices on this record. This is far from standard death metal. The vocals are high and the riffs are somewhat jazzy. Don't go into this looking for chugging. It's melodic but not to the point of being melodeath. I really wish the guitar had more bass. The production is the biggest flaw in my opinion. It sounds paper thin.

Wow. Truly mindboggling album, especially considering the 1989(!) release. Still very infant, thrashy, old-school death metal, but injected with a very nice dose of technicality. Perfect up until the last two tracks with I thought messed up the flow a little.

Unquestionable Presence is fantastic, but this is the one that always gets me banging my head. Not as complex and "jazzy" as their future albums, a bit more straightforward, but it makes up for it by being their heaviest release and being technical as hell. Incredible stuff and definitely worth checking out. R.I.P. Roger Patterson, one of Metal's most underrated Bassists. He kills it on this.

It is amazing that Roger Patterson wrote most of the riffs to this album. It is further proof that in a lot of cases the bass player can be the most important person in the band. The album drifts a little bit towards the end but it is a solid 4.0-4.1
