Boring, blase, unremarkable punk music. Not as terrible as some of the band's subsequent work (Insomniac), but it isn't any good either.

This album right here, without question, is probably Green Day's most sincere, honest album. Recorded in a mere 1990, this album showcases teenage life wrapped up into a single serving. Although the guitar riffs are muddy and raw, they are extremely catchy and refreshing. Lyrically, this is probably their best album yet, as the themes are cornered primarily around being an angry teenager. This is definitely an amazing record by Green Day and should be listened to at least once

I'll freely admit that nostalgic value plays a role for my rating. That being said - this is always just an awesome listen for me. Catchy, fun, great production, and just plain relatable: the scrawled out booklet, the raw heart-on-your-sleeve punk, and lyrical themes about the always-troublesome world of girls, growing up, and seclusion resonated with me some ~17 years ago just as much as it does now (for better or worse).

Love the early stuff. And yes, *most* of the songs are about girls, but it's still an enjoyable album.rStandouts for me are At the Library, I Was There, Going to Pasalacqua, 16, Rest, The Judge's Daughter, Paper Lanterns, Knowledge, 1,000 Hours and I Want to Be Alone.

I dislike Green Day for the most part, but this album is just SO CATCHY. Yes, the lyrics are a bit cheesy, but everything else is very enjoyable to me and I love nearly every song. I don't think this album should be heard with a serious mind; this album is just for having fun- and it does it's job.

A lesser debut by green day. The tracks are definitley a bit generic, the lyrics are cheesey, and the guitar solos are ridiculous. But there are signs of what was to come. At the library and dry ice show billie's talent of songwriting and predict the success that was to come. Plus there's that classic cover of Knowledge, so while this may be green day's worst album it is still quite promising in some ways.
