| 3.0 good | TheManMachine | March 28th 17 | Whimsical warmth and playful electronix are fetching enough, tones both sharp-n-crisp and nighttime dreamy please the ear, expected jazzy verve is there but woulda liked to see it more amply utilized. For my money, the peak of this 23-track 51-minute yuck-it-up jumble comes at what may as well be the beginning, the 2 tunes/4 minutes of "Captain Stupido" and "Uh Uh". The latter a simple speedy jazz drill that shoulda lent some of its liveliness elsewhere and the former gagger-goofy as the best of em with its flatulence and meat beatin' beard combin' Beach Boys scurry. Following that, it seems like video game/internet/cat culture is catered to more than the songwriting; too many half-songs and less-than-half-songs with a bulk not making a dent. Monotonous vox, smooth-gone-shallow, garden-variety guest spots -- except for Wiz Khalifa, tho not in a good way -- his gnarly weed and red cups take the gagger-goofy crown.

| 3.0 good | cavalrycaptain | February 28th 17 | Despite being on his third LP, it still feels like Thundercat hasn't quite found his footing. His instrumental work has never been better, but it comes at the price of a weak concept and a clumsy narrative. It's enjoyable fun, though it's obvious that Thundercat is capable of so much more.

| 3.0 good | Zeneren | March 5th 17 | This is annoying because I'm undoubtedly a huge fan. Thundercat's lyrical humour, technical
bass-playing, captivating falsetto are significant attributes to make you excited for new material
and, indeed, they all feature prominently. Unfortunately, the songwriting is either too formulaic or
just not up to scratch. So many short tracks leave your mind as quickly as they enter. Still,
"actual" songs 'Drunk'*, 'Friend Zone', 'Them Changes' and 'The Turn Down' are strong, while 'Uh
Uh' is a maximal showcase of Thundercat's impressive ability on the bass. Nevertheless,
Thundercat's obvious technical talents are crying out for him to tap into a progressive side in his
songwriting that incorporates the inspiration he pulls out in live shows.

| 4.0 excellent | Introu1 | May 30th 21 | Really funky and unique album. The songs are all good, plus the fact the featuing is insane : kendrick, wiz kalifa and even pharrel Williams, it cant get better. The lyrics are childish, yet also good. Anyway super chill album 3,8/5

| 3.0 good | moodbrew | March 27th 19 | Some fun songs, some disappointingly mediocre. Overall good but, c'mon, Wiz Khalifa?

| 4.0 excellent | SaucepanNation | March 23rd 17 | Dude got Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald to sit in on one of the smoothest tracks in modern memory. Plus he's got the finger plucking skills of Jaco. The world needs more Thundercat to feed ya brains.

| 3.5 great | OrdinaryVision | March 20th 17 | I agree with who is saying that is his best work and at the same time i think its songwriting could be better, and you can feel that his music is demanding him to go to a more sophisticated direction. Still is a chill album to listen to. I just hope this neo soul/future funk trend dies fast, or goes in a more progressive direction. But we all know it will not happen.

| 0.0 | holy moly my guy | March 16th 17 | Fun record, smooth, relaxing, funny lyrics! Vocals, however, get old by the end of the record (very little variety), 25 one to three minute tracks hinders the flow, and there are not too many memorable moments unfortunately.

| 3.0 good | dihstyle69 | February 24th 17 | very disappointing release. it's good, but not nearly as good as it could've been. technically, this project is brilliant - as expected - but it falls short on the lyrical side of things and the concept isn't that interesting either. some songs don't transition well to the next. idk, i was expecting way more. it's good, but not as good as it needed to be. 3+
