This may be an unpopular opinion but I honestly think this live version improves upon the masterpiece that is the original Jane Doe. The mix is phenomenal and the performance is breathtaking. On the original the vocals were a bit too far back in the mix for me, but on this live version they are front and center and are suburb.

Amazing live version of one of my absolute favorites. The mastering is amazing, as one would
expect from a project Kurt Ballou is involved in. Especially Jake Bannon sounds like a
fucking beast. Contrasting Jane Live with the original album actually gives great insight
into the evolution of Ballou as a producer. In the first half, the guitar parts may not be
quite as tight as hoped for, but from Phoenix In Flight, when Stephen Brodsky joins in,
onwards, everything is just completely mindblowing.

This would have been even better were Brodsky on every track. The lack of a second guitar
for some of the songs leads to Ballou playing a greatest hits of the guitar parts and it
sounds "off" in a way, as it is much different than the album sound, sometimes (though this
has been the case since 2001). The record sounds amazing though, really well recorded and
mastered. Great musicians playing a perfect record.

I tend to not enjoy live albums but this is very good. Jake sounds like BAHHH BAHHH BAHHH in the best way possible. Hoping for 10+ more years of Converge
