| 3.5 great | Voivod STAFF | February 11th 17 | Overkill is as Overkill does and The Grinding Wheel, not better nor worse than its immediately previous affairs, is no exception. The band's take-no-prisoners ethic in performing its material is sine qua non as always. What's slightly different here is the dual-mode affiliation to downright classic and modern metal (in terms of sound) forms alike.

| 4.5 superb | Mitch | May 29th 21 | Re-listened to this today, and it's somehow even better than I remembered it being when I bought it back in 2017. 2010's Overkill could do no wrong, I swear.

| 3.5 great | BRAman22 | July 18th 17 | The Grinding Wheel seems to slow it down and add more groove than typical Overkill. It still has some good riffs and hooks, so it works as far as I'm concerned. I loved Our Finest Hour.

| 3.5 great | Xenorazr | February 22nd 17 | Overkill keep the wheel spinning with nary a bump in the road. It's a good thing Overkill on cruise control is still engaging, provided your collection isn't overflowing with everything else they've put out.

| 3.0 good | resident sputbirb with fancy hat | February 11th 17 | As individual tracks, that fast paced repetitive but energetic punk approach to thrash metal can be pretty enjoyable. doesnt really work on a whole album full of those songs tho, especially when they are frequently overlong. there is a reason why punk songs are usually short. also the vocals could be quite grating and repetitive for the listener especially in the choruses. fav tracks: Mean, Green, Killing Machine, The Wheel
