It's fun to play the 70s-influence-identification-game while listening. ELO, Rundgren, Jagger and disco strings all show up in the first song. Then Abba's "Waterloo" shows up in the second... along with many more.

Alright so this is going to take more getting used to than I thought. The samples had me excited but listening to a full album of this guy's vocals set to a broadway style musical is getting on my last nerve. Hoping this will be one of those things that I find irritating at first and then end up loving.

luckily, it seems like their last album was simply an experimental mistake rather than what we should expect from the band in the future. with hang, foxygen go back to the sound that put them on the map in the first place, creating more thrilling, dynamic and unpredictable lo-fi indie rock that keeps you engaged the whole way through. very solid comeback! 4-

This album is so freaking bipolar in quality that it makes my head hurt. When the tracks are ractually good, they're amazing. Unfortunately, half the songs on here lean the other way, and when rthey're bad rThey're BAD. (Still better than Vessels, I guess)

Insufferable Broadway-rock that's way too cheesy and maximalist to make any impact. It's clear that a lot of musical talent went into this, but it doesn't translate into an enjoyable listening experience.
