Ferocious and raw...how death metal should be. "Inverted" has the meanest pinch-harmonic riff that is likely to pop into your head throughout the day.

amazingly, luc lemay and co. managed to take the free-jazz schizophrenia of "obscura" and warp it back into something much more clearly resembling death metal. that's not to say this is an easily digestible album; it's still just as complex, but the constraints of the genre are merely bent horrifically out of shape rather than snapped entirely. a dark, entrancing, and strangely beautiful listen.

Gorguts continue on the path of dissonant, jazzy tech-Death, and they do it damn well. Not as groundbreaking, or anywhere close to as crazy as Obscura, Gorguts put out a more grounded tech-death release here. I use the term grounded with caution, as this is by no means standard, and still a great display of jarring musical tropes.

daayum nigga, this album ***in slams. any nigga who thought obscura was their best, well, it's one of their best, but this album right here is a ***ing masterpiece. think of a slightly more accessible obscura and boom, you got this mean son of a bitch coming at you like an avalanche of brutality and torture. idk why but this album just clicks with me out of all of them the most, and it ***s hard man. rthere's no denying luc is a brilliant vocalist and *** this is easily one of his best performances. production is clearer but it has a very ominous atmosphere which really, is ***ing intense. the musicianship isn't as chatoic and *** like on obscura, but any nigga who pisses on this album - wtf is rong with an album being more "musical." Y'know" Don't get me wrong, this album isn't like a summer breeze, but the instruments have more flow and progression than their other albums do. it's just a ***ing kickass album son. i highly recommend it.

Perhaps their most bizarre and sonically distinct album. It suffers from a certain redundancy and the great moments are not as abundant as on previous albums, yet it is, to a certain extent, just as impressive. Th guitars here are as interesting and weird sounding as they get.
