it's good to see lady gaga trying to go for a different, more complete and mature sound but she can sometimes sound a bit too theatrical and songs like dancing in circles and a-yo just don't match the album's vibe. nice effort, but could and should've been way better. 3+

Gaga steps up her game and produces an fun and eclectic bunch of tracks. The vocals are
raw and passionate throughout, and the instrumentals for the most part are interesting
and varied. Lyrics are hit and miss, but those have never been her strong suite in the
first place. Perfect Illusion and Hey Girl are the only tracks that manage to disappoint.
Thoroughly impressed.

Maybe her die hard fans won't appreciate the significantly less pop sound of this album, but it will stand the test of time as one of her definitive albums.
