Christian melodic metalcore band Demon Hunter's latest addition to their discography is neither terrible nor anything to write home about in all honesty. Featuring 12 songs, the outfit's eighth studio outing Outlive has a nasty tendency to find itself trampled by lifeless production values next to lead vocalist Ryan Clark's very drab performance; seriously, get this man a sports drink - he's sleepwalking throughout a majority of the album! Audio mixing and vocals aside, at least the instrumentation is palpable enough to keep the record from falling into obscurity, given the musicians are adept at providing sick moments every once in a blue moon within the release's duration. Generally speaking Outlive could be worse, although the ensemble could've afforded to put more effort into the material at hand. Angel recommends: the cheesiness that is "One Step Behind," "Patience," and "Slight the Odds".

Certainly a step in a more creative and thoughtful direction than Extremist. Style is all over the
place, which perhaps makes it the most interesting listen since The World is a Thorn. The lyrics
here are stronger than the previous couple of releases, presenting themselves in a more nuanced
and poetic manner that harkens back to their best and earliest works.
Unfortunately, the vocal performance from Mr. Clark leaves a lot to be desired here--and the loud
and highly filtered production does little to help. In general, the album suffers from a general
stiffness and lack of passion which diminishes the impact of the album's highlights.
Not their greatest effort, but if they continue to stretch and challenge their formula as they did
here, we could be in for an excellent follow up effort.

A more mature, consistent, and melodic album with great chorus' and stronger ballads. Demon Hunter
did a fantastic job after the longest wait for one of their albums... and a great addition for any
fan.

Heavier than "True Defiance," more to their roots than "Extremist," and "The World Is A Thorn." I find myself enjoying this album as a close second behind "Summer of Darkness." I'm really enjoying the second to last track "Patience."

Demon Hunter has assembled a bland collection of lethargic rock tunes into an album that is a rglaring low point in their discography. "Jesus Wept," "Cold Blood" and "One Less" are the only routstanding rtracks.

Generic rock vocals/ballads with sweet as fuck riffs and topped off with a pretty chill inducing closer. Some points become a bit to bland to care much about and their isn't exactly a high level of diversity but the passion and hooks are mostly there.

I'm sorry but this is fuckin boring. The vocalist has no power in his growls and his clean vocals aren't really anything to write home about. This is like unseasoned chicken. Boring. Bland. No staying power. Jesus heard this shit and turned it off after track 3.

While many fans will probably dislike the rather soft tone of the album, I think of it
differently. The album has absolutely fantastic melodies (some of the best they've ever written,
imo), great lyrics, superb solos, and, while being generally very melodic, there are still some
incredibly groovy and aggressive tracks. A fantastic addition to their discography.

Never really liked Demon Hunter's older stuff, and this feels a lot more like their older records
than 'Extremist', which I thoroughly enjoyed. Especially the heavy songs feel very lifeless due to
the flat production and plain songwriting. The more synthwave inspired songs are great though.
