Here we fucking go. The first MBV output released through Creation Records is everything the band would be known for: romantic, noisy, and atmospheric pop. This is the true start of one of the most influential bands of its era, and this is their most sensual and bass-led release.

You Made Me Realise is the undisputed pinnacle of 80's MBV, and as such, it rules face. Though not as noisy as their later material and not as out-and-out poppy as their earlier material, the EP finds itself in a nice equilibrium between the two styles, and sets into motion the style that the band would adopt and be remembered for on Loveless. The first side is absolutely perfect in every way, and though the second side pales in comparison, it's still some really well done noise pop. At the end of the day, there isn't a whole lot more to say that hasn't already been said about it, but make no mistake, if you're in to the more experimental side of both post-punk and pop, you need to hear this EP.

While their sound hadn't completely developed at this point 'You Made Me Realise' is an essential listen for fans of the seminal shoegaze band. The title track and 'Slow' showcase a distorted bass heavy sound that doesn't have any comparisons on their full lengths. The remaining songs are more typical early era MBV songs with a soft sensuous feel that would develop into the wall of ecstatic noise found on their later recordings.
