i love this album. this is the bands first album and it is one of their best. i do not know why people do not like 'demons', but that is one of my favourite songs of all time. 'jennifer lost the war', 'beheaded', 'tehran', 'elders', 'blackball', and 'crossroads' are awesome tracks. i wish the offspring could release albums like this. the greatest strength of this album is the fact that it is pure punk. i wish their newer stuff sounded like this...

When listening to The Offspring's self titled debut album, it is almost hard to tell that this is the same band that would make albums like Americana and Conspiracy Of One. This album sounds like no other in the band's discography, even their sophomore album Ignition. The Offspring's punk rock roots shine here and there hardly the amount of pop that would dominate later albums. The band whips through eleven songs with fast guitar riffs and raw vocals with attitiude taking cues from veteran Californian punk bands like TSOL and Agent Orange making some of their best music in songs such as Jennifer Lost The War, Beheaded, Blackball, and Tehran. The lyrics here would also be different from later work, with a more political overtone. If you want to see The Offspring as a punk band intead of their joke songs like Pretty Fly, Original Prankster and Hit That that they will sadly be remembered for by some, check out their debut album.

The Offspring's self-debut album is full of energy and fast paced tempos. Despite the favorable comments I read about this release, I was not particularly engaged because of the lyrical content and the mediocre production. Recommendations: "Jennifer Lost The War", "Blackball".r
