Ignition consists of pompous basslines, crunchy guitars, energetic drumming and Holland's high-pitched agonizing vocals. All these factors are giving the punky character of The Offspring's sophomore release. Tracks and the overall production are better this time but this is definitely an album for the lovers of early punk. The track that I enjoyed the most from this album is 'Dirty Magic' which reminded me a lot of Nirvana's early days and could be easily be included in [i]Bleach{/i]. Recommendations: "Dirty Magic", "Kick Him When He's Down", "We are One".

This album makes me nostalgic for a point of my life that actually sucked, weird eh? One of my first skate punk rock albums, along with No Use For A Name, Snfu and Strung Out.

Although Offspring are often refered to as being pop punk they are much more than that. Although they do have the trademark pop punk attributes they sound much more grunge and metal influenced which, topped off with the catchy pop punk melodies, makes a great and interesting sound.
With Ignition, The Offspring have not reached their peak yet and still sound very new and amatuerish, although if anything that makes the album more pleasing since it has a raw edge to it which was lost on later albums.

This a great album, but really I was a little dissipointed by it. It has excellent punk riffs and vocals and of coarse amazing bass playing. There truly are some great songs on this, but i didn't like it as much as the Self Titled and Smash. I also don't like how the drums were recorded.

Offsprings second album, and a very good one to the bass is a stand-out in this album and as a bass player it apeals to me alot. the lyrics are very good and it's been put together real well.
