It's pleasant enough but it sorely lacks the power that the Bloom and Breathe had. The first half is really forgettable though and it's not until Empty Canvas where we get to see an inkling of the potential this band has (and even then it doesn't really hold a candle to anything on Bloom and Breathe). Loving the groove on Penny though.

A toned down effort from Gates that displays their strengths; Catchy choruses, atmosphere, and great vocals. However, it lacks the punch that their predecessor had. Still a great release and I'm sure it'll grow on me a bit more.

The followup to my person 2014 AOTY "Bloom And Breathe", is just as effective as the aforementioned album. Post-rock, indie rock, emo, and atmosphere combine to create something truly beautiful. Early standout songs include "Eyes" and the title track. This is some truly stunning work. Many of the tracks could fit in on Moving Mountains' "Foreword" album.
