Ever since I first heard Rev 22:20 in the movie Underworld I wanted to hear more from Puscifer. It felt like an eternity had passed by waiting for a full album to become a reality. Finally in 2007 prayers were answered by the Reverend Maynard and V is for Vagina was released. My personal favorite tracks off this album are Momma Sed, Sour Grapes, and The Undertaker. The new and improved version of The Undertaker was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise. I also really like how Maynard leased a few tracks every now and then leading up to the full release of the album. Each new song kept me coming back for more and made me more excited for the final product. The humorous artwork inside the case was also a much appreciated bonus. The only thing that I really did not care for too much was the remix of Rev 22:20 at the end of the album.

Concept album about a relationship between a boy and a girl with mainly spoken vocals by Maynard Keenan of Tool fame. The music is trip hop with some industrial and rock influence, and very good production. "Momma Sed" is a truly fantastic track-- one of my favourite songs of all time-- but nothing else on the record is at the same level. It's ashame the title, band name, and album art are so terrible, because they overshadow the music.

Surprisingly good. At first listen I hated the album but giving it another listen it has grown on me. All the tracks are "groovy" as Maynard says. Kind of like R&B/Hip-Hop for rock music...if that makes any sense to anyone else besides me. "Momma Sed" is my current favorite. The music is very relaxed and easy to listen to. Again, not a masterpiece or a life changing album...just something fun and enjoyable. Although, this album has dug into a entirely different sound and style than I have ever heard. Very unique.

As a trip-hop album, this is pathetic... Not awful but pretty bad. The only appeal to this album in my ears is knowing that Mr. Keenan is the lead for this effort if only to just excrete ideas that weren't palatable on any prior Tool or A Perfect Circle record. Imo the industrial and trip-hop elements do not blend well and there's not one track I could hear myself listening to again or on rotation. In terms of MJK's work, this is def some bottom of the barrel territory.

As a far cry from the prog nature that has engulfed Tool for so long and the alternative rock direction of A Perfect Circle, Maynard James Keenan's side project Puscifer is... uh, intriguing, to say the least. The monkeys expecting "V" Is for Vagina to be this siren song easily ingested by scholars with third eyes just because Maynard's held responsible may end up disappointed. Personally, I adore how soothing and comparatively bizarre the overall record is; the bizarre part is there to stay since Puscifer's debut full-length album has a sound more in the vein of danceable music with trip hop elements. Stare like a junkie into the cover.

I would go so far as to say I'm a Tool fan, and that I have been for a while. I was one of those nerds buying 'Lateralus' on the day it came out, prompted from my 12th and 13th years of life where 'Undertow' and 'Anemia' were in heavy rotation. I even went so far as to pick up every Maynard side project I could and I would even call myself a fan of A Perfect Circle. Recently though I've acquired his Pussifer albums and to quote Sean Rizzo from our very own Sputnik review (*ahem*): 'unless borderline spoken word vocals fronting repetitive and primitive beats tickles your fancy, the album is a complete bore fest.'
