Pretty underwhelming album. Every track you've heard before and done better on previous records. Overall just a collection of slightly-above-average hard rock tunes and nothing more.

Yeah this is a Billy Talent album by-the-numbers: their formula of alt rock-infused punk is still kicking, with no filler but few bona fide BT bangers.

their worst most generic boring album for sure, an infection of songs with a few good chords but mired in total filler with the crutch being the only mostly complete track, some fun synth work on horses n chariots but doesnt save it

Dead Silence was the kick in the jaw this band needed after a horribly mediocre third album.
This album is more or less more Dead Silence-type stuff. It's not quite as good but it still has the catchy riffs and hooks and scream-along vocal melodies we've come to expect in recent years.rAdditionally, there's some new stuff here. Time Bomb Ticking Away, suitably titled, is a great exercise in keeping the incredibly tense momentum going for a whole track, as is Rabbit Down the Hole, and Cannibal Rats is a great throwback to 90s grunge. Horses and Chariots has a post-2000s Maiden vibe to it I LOVE.
This album grows on ya with every listen. My actual review may be a 4.

I know it's predictable as f*** but every song give me so much joy. In my opinion, when u start your journey with Billy Talent, you should listen first "Hits" then "Afraids of Heights" ;)
