Ok you know what im tired of people putting down this album. The band changed their style a bit so what. This Album is not pathetic. Neithier is disclaimer. Seethers sound changes just like metallica did just like linkin park did. this is arguablly not their best album but come on its good. Like Suicide i mean come on that was great. Fake it was good as well. Seether did a good job on this album and i think they are doing good. Seether gets a little harder in tone on this album and they prove they can do it. Seether is not heading down hill just getting older and changing. The band is still great.

You know what Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces reminds me of the most? A bullet train with a conductor who likes to take his sweet ass time getting from one big obelisk to the other, when he should've just passed through the second monument in a flash. That's basically what post-grunge band Seether are doing throughout a majority of their 2007 record: being as dull and unfun as they possibly can. While I wouldn't call the album an atrocity by any means, a little more diversity and a bit less repetition would do these guys wonders on here. Instrumentally confident and vocally fine as it is, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces just isn't that great a release overall. Angel recommends: "No Jesus Christ," "Walk Away From the Sun," and "Eyes of the Devil". I'd also like to give a quick mention of "Fake It", if only for the lead single's catchiness and not much else.

Despite a few stand-out tracks (Like Suicide and Fake It to name a couple), Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces is too generic and familiar-sounding to carry the rage and emotion Shaun Morgan is attempting to convey.

This is a decent album. But, as a whole, it fails to stand up to it's predecessors in quality and variety. True, Seether is not the most varied band in the world, but this one is too repetitive for it's own good. "Fake It," "Breakdown," "Rise Above This," and "No Jesus Christ" are the best songs on here.

Now I am a lifetime fan of Seether.
I only really started listening to Seether about 2-3 months ago. Why? Well being a South African I have for years thought SA music sucked and never bothered to spend time listening.
Well that changed when I listen to a childhood friend ALL girl punk band known as Running With Scissors. Then I started exploring a bit and was amazed at the quality and excellence of the SA music.
So enroute Seether pop into the equation ...and I was blown away.
This latest album "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces" is a great work from them. I think it encapsulates them at the beginning of a the maturing phase. It loved by many, here in SA and offshore and has got great reviews.
But then u get a dim-wits like Brian Hiatt and others that keep regurgitates the Amy Lee 'Sober' comment .... grow up is all I can say.
The song "No Jesus Christ" has as usual got all the religious freaks up wanting to take arms. What for? Does Seether go knock on their doors and preach evil .. no they do not.
Interpretation is in the eye of the beholder ...

The South African nu-metallers ride again. Ho hum.
It was going to be a real task bettering the excellent Karma and Effect- quite evidently one that the band could not do. The solution was certainly not attempting to recreate the record in a half-baked and uninspired way, as the bulk of this record is. They were certainly on the right track with the sensational single "Fake It" and the thundering jam of "No Jesus Christ", however.
Better luck next time.

Ok to my opinion: This album wasn't to bad, to me the Disclaimers were a lot worst then this. But Karma And Effect was much better. This album shouldn't be considered a failure or a absolute success. Its was good enough to pick out certain tracks liked overall at least. I liked Like Suicide, Don't Blame, No Jesus Christ, and Waste.

It's very strange to see a review claiming that an album is terrible when the review is heavily one-sided. The album is staying, surprisingly enough, true to the genre of grunge (save a few developments, such as the screaming and the inclusion of metal-like fills). In the commercial world, that is already special enough to make a band stand out. Yes, the riffs are very simple and repetitive, but I cannot agree with the statement that the lyrics are, in any way, bad or lack talent. Just because the lyrics do not follow the 'rules' set forth by the music industry, doesn't mean they suck. They are experimental, yes, but also have true meaning. I wish for more objective reviews in the future.
