Chevelle's heaviest and most experimental LP to date. One or two weaker cuts (Enemies) but overall
definitely up there with their best. Door to Door Cannibals and Punchline are easily top 10
Chevelle tracks.

Strong 4 - First thing I have to say is that chevelle went really crazy on structures, it is really impressive, there is not a single song, which doesn't contain any surprising element. Second up, I think that ,,la Gargola'' is by far the band's best work. Ok so let's talk about this album little bit now, this album pretty much takes heavy elements of ,,La gargola'' and makes them freaky, heavier and at times better. Songs like ,,Door to door Cannibals'' or ,,Rivers'' feel like they could've been a part of La gargola, ,but they have more layers and just overall stronger structure than songs like ,,Under the knife'' or ,,Jawbreaker''. On the other hand songs like ,,Joyride'' or ,,Last Days'' are amazingly catchy and memorable. ,,Warhol's showbiz'' has amazing layered guitar and Bass work which is just straght up impressive. And now we're getting to the ender ,,Shot from a Cannon'' which is this 8 minute long giant and it actually shows capability of these guys to make something that is really starting up pretty slow and soft, but it is growing into this huge distorted ball of sounds. As a whole thing it is as strong as ,,La gargola'' it just misses the beautiful spacey atmosphere i loved about ,,La gargola'' but yeah really impressive release

The bass is ridiculous on this album. The most consistent heavy rock band out there. I wish more songs sounded like Punchline, but Chevelle has did it again.

Not going to cement my rating yet; but contrary to what I thought based on the three early songs,
this is probably the most experimental Chevelle album yet. Lot's of very interesting things going
on with the sound. Warhol's Showbiz is incredible.

There is nothing original about riffs here, the praised heaviness of this album is nothing short of a straight predictability, and I claim this as a long-time Chevelle fan. This band is capable of more, they showcased it best on La Gargola, and Corridor for me is a step backwards. But anyway it possesses a bunch of worthwhile hooks. "Punchline", an eerie industrial prophecy of an impending doom; "Rivers" with its contrasts and interesting use of flamenco-esque guitar passage; "Shot from a cannon", a fierce behemoth where Chevelle finally releases their inner Tool knowing neither mercy nor remorse; and a pleasant surprise of "A Miracle", quite soulful and touching ballad. It seems like the album's "mission" lies precisely in these songs.

I'm currently at a loss of words to properly describe my impression of this album. This album manages to stay in their (usual) performance rating as a solid "great" album to their respective genres, but I feel conflicted in calling this album was worthy of being "excellent" quality amongst the metal genre... The album manages to keep that aggressive tone like that of their Thinking album and simultaneously emit a more polished experimental quality than compared to their La Gargola album. This main difference recognized b/w this album and LG is that while the North Corridor had a heavier emphasis on the guitar & bass sections while La Gargola featured much more impressive drumming sections. I'm just surprised that this album had not managed to incorporate both strengths into (this) one album. Still conflicted on how high this album ranks compared to their prior work, but any listener of Chevelle will certainly not be disappointed w/ this purchase. PS - This album is so much better than Deftones' Gore effort.

I think what people are missing when it comes to Chevelle is that even in their earlier days
(WWN/TTOT), Chevelle were never *just* heavy. They combined their heaviness with strong
songwriting, tense atmospheres and a unique melodic voice. The North Corridor has the heaviness
and atmosphere in spades, but it's sorely lacking the other two key components.
Don't get me wrong, the album is good. Door to Door Cannibals, Enemies, Young Wicked and Shot from
a Cannon are too good for me to dismiss this album entirely. But there's a prevalent sense that
something is missing. And on the whole, The North Corridor is definitely below what the band is
really capable of.
