Eschewed from most acclaim to due becoming more associated with repeat playings of Back In Black at bars and stadiums in the same fashion Zeppelin got the stigma of Dad Rock. Giving AC/DC a 5 is a tough sell to many. Bon Scott is much preferred as an singer, famous for hooks on Highway To Hell LP and High Voltage more than his singing between those albums, on their best releases such as Powerage and This. Whole Lotta Rosie, Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be, and especially the title track convey a melody and energy weakened by the time Brian came to sing.

For me, the most definitive Rock 'n Roll album of all time. Raw, but controlled, intense and direct, no trickery and effects. What you get is what you get. Crushing and grooving, fantastic.

The Australian edition of this gets a hard five. As for the international version, y'know, it's still great, but man does Problem Child feel out of place.

This album includes a couple of the Aussies' best songs; in particular "Let There Be Rock" and "Whole Lotta Rosie". It's not that the album is not good but it could have been better. It is also worth exploring "Go Down", "Dog Eat Dog" & "Bad Boy Boogie" for some dirty rock n roll

The mock Old Testament album title ain't kidding: AC/DC unleash a stampede of rock on this one. From the thundering blitzkrieg 'Let There Be Rock' to the mean, red eyed decadence of 'Problem Child' and 'Bad Boy Boogie' (with Angus' tense slamming on that one note in the bridge lifting the rage) and made-for-concert songs like 'Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be' and 'Dog Eat Dog', "Let There Be Rock" is the unsung rough diamond in the AC/DC catalogue. The album ends when the fat lady screams with the absolute brain-blowing 'Whole Lotta Rosie'. A good rockin' out to this one (and an air guitar to the call-and-response between Angus and the rest of the band in the bridge) is the most fun you can have listening to music.

This is my absolute favourite AC/DC album. The hard rock here is excellent, and clever (somewhat). The lyrics are genius, and it's pretty well perfect. M favourite song here is.......Problem Child.
