Mahavishnu get back to the rawer sound of their first 2 LPs and live EP. However, while John shreds around, the other members, especially Michae Walden on drums just cannot match the ferocity of Cobham. Furthermore, it is less straight out free-jazz as John's new experimentational leanings bring along many mellow interludes. Still a great album.
