| 5.0 classic | wtferrothorn | May 20th 16 | The indie rock hero we needed, but sure as hell don't deserve.

| 3.5 great | TheManMachine | August 14th 16 | A magnified portrait of prototypal indie-boy apprehension; as in the thing flaunts 12 tracks in 70 minutes and one of 'em allegorizes the troubles of being a tyronic adult with the sinking of the goddamn Costa Concordia. But thanx in part to a penchant for rawness+ruckus+mumbling+hoarseness, its sizable scope never really leans toward lofty; and though heavy on the mope and musical miming and diffident drawl, cranium-cushion commander Will Toledo is personable+pitiful enough to not only draw you in, but make you give a shit too. Invariably observant inward-n-outward, his narrations are oft-laced with wit, woe, candor, nobility; and perhaps some good ol' fashioned naivete -- he cries when a cop shakes him down and needs to warily ask a merciful mademoiselle if what they're doin' is dancing, driving drunk is acknowledged and discouraged without even a scintilla of advocacy or condescension, a shroom+acid cocktail gets him feeling trashy and vile instead of transcendent. Having lotsa mantric hooks never hurts either, take this decisive and descending sequential triplet: "It'll be alright", "I give up", "We're never gonna never gonna get a job" -- considering the ambition at hand, the last one at least is prolly not something worth worrying about.

| 4.0 excellent | olisz | October 6th 22 | Not as consistent as Twin Fantasy (Face to Face), but often even more relatable. Will's ability to write both catchy hooks and lyrics is just insane. One of my favourite lines is "Don't worry, I am worrying for two".

| 4.5 superb | Introu1 | September 26th 21 | Excellent album with amazing lyrics and production, but no fellas, i am not a furry, but if i must become one too continue listening to the band, so be it, amen 4,3/5

| 4.0 excellent | charlopiano | June 9th 21 | I didn't absolutely love it, but i think this album is pretty important, because kinda like Charli XCX's self titled, it's incredibly indicative of the generation it was made for and from. It's incredibly gen-z/millenial and I think its a good relic of those generations.

| 4.5 superb | IsildursBane44 | April 14th 20 | This album is all over the place. It's unpredictable, emotional, loud, and knows how to hold off. It travels through many themes of adolescence, but also adds in odd/random phrases to throw off the listener. One of the most refreshing indie rock releases of the last decade. It's experimental while remaining grounded and it marked an exciting transition for the band. The exposure they got from this album gave them a much bigger stage and it's very easy to see why.

| 2.5 average | Monheim | February 16th 19 | boring, self-indulgent nothingness, like hearing an indie rock best hits album from the adjacent room, will toledo seems convinced he's making something great and I can hardly fathom why
Bump |
| 4.5 superb | michaela doorjamb (girl) | October 18th 18 | The songs are classic. The music is simple but catchy, indie pop arrangements with a rock flavor. But it's Will's vocal performance and lyrics that tie this whole experience together. "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" and "Cosmic Hero" can singlehandedly bring me to tears, and that is rare as hell.

| 4.5 superb | objectivity is not my thing at all | July 11th 18 | really great album in all directions, instrumentation is always fun and pleasant and the lyricism fits. the witty and dry confessional direction the writing goes in is perfect, suits the sound very well and will's sometimes monotonous, sometimes extremely abrasive vocal style. only real complaint is that sometimes the mix is so lo-fi that will's vocals get drowned out significantly, not a good thing when the lyrics are the focal point of the album. basically no filler except maybe one particular song and the album almost feels like a narrative, definitely a strong listen both up close and from a distance

| 4.5 superb | ChrisBCreme | September 21st 17 | Not a single weak track. This album is a thrilling, charming, dark, sometimes funny, and always emotionally resonant portrait of the problems you face in your teen years and early twenties. Whether you're struggling with depression, paranoia, drugs, self-doubt, regrets of the past, worry for the future, sexual frustration, religion, anger, or the titular denial, Car Seat Headrest's eleventh album has something for you.

| 3.5 great | kinderfall1 | April 19th 17 | The only thing holding back the album is its 70 minute runtime and Will Toledo's frequent self-indulgencies. That being said, Teens of Denial is a phenomenal indie rock/emo release and if Car Seat Headrest could just reign in their songwriting a tad they could easily establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the modern indie scene. Obvious standout The Ballad of The Costa Concordia shows incredible promise for the group and alone makes Teens of Denial worth a shot.

| 4.0 excellent | dihstyle69 | February 15th 17 | it's a bit on the lenghty side, which kinda makes the album exhausting to listen to at times but man, all of these tracks are absolute indie rock bliss. toledo rides every track as if he was living every word he's saying. 4+

| 3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | January 24th 17 | A seventy minute Indie Rock with plenty of very long tracks seems like it should instantly suffer from dragging on and on forever but that is not the case with Teens of Denial. Will Toledo does a great job balancing the highs and lows and ups and downs in this Car Seat Headset release where the highlights are some of the best Indie Rock songs of recent memory. Great pacing throughout as it alternates between more downbeat, clean tracks and full on, upbeat indie rock anthems laiden with crunchy guitars. Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales is a catchy standout but powerful moments are found in a majority of the twelve tracks on the record.
