The production certainly doesn't do them any favour here. Drums are buried, and the guitars
can be overwhelming, & far too upfront. They also have been separated in the production,
guitar toward the left channel & bass to the right, on stereo, & this results in a pretty
disastrous damage to being able to layer instrumentation. If you're uninitiated to the band,
imagine a stream of frantic jazz, with constant, nonstop soloing in the most harsh, schizo
manner for the duration of a record. The guitarist & bassist operate entirely in the pursuit
of streaming the most notes together in the most frantic sloppy, disjointed, manner. Chuck a
completely out of place cover of Crystal Mountain into the mix, which is drenched deeply in
layers of sludgy tones, losing much of the dynamic nature that made that song so great in the
first place.
