Keep getting this record stuck in my head for some reason. Unlike most *core releases, this is not a collection of random wanks and chugs. The album feels well laid out throughout the listening, should be heard in its entirety.

An amazing album, although its barely 20 minutes long. When I first picked it up I listened to it over and over for at least 2 weeks. Amazing instrumentals, this BoO does things with metal that separate them from other bands.

I like the technical outline of this band. When I saw them live it locked in my decision that this is one band that is definately good at what they do.

While this album is tremendous in short bursts (and I mean very short), it fails to grab my attention for the entire time. Born of Osiris clearly have the chops to create some quality technical death metal, but really kill the buzz quickly with goofy keyboards and way too much Meshuggah leg-humping. You might want to check out the songs "Open Arms to Damnation" and "The Takeover", but really you should just listen to The Faceless again for a much more rewarding experience with essentially the same sound.

Enjoyed this quite a bit more than I expected to. Simplistic and derivative in the riff department but the keyboards and semi-catchy song-writing make this an above average album.

It sure as hell doesn't bring as many 'junz' as it should, but The New Reign sure to please about a small portion of metalheads in a certain way whether they admit to disliking Born of Osiris' existence or not. Flame shield activate!

Production is abysmal. It's a 2.7, as half of the tracks are skip. I usually reward debuts
but considering I heard "The Discovery" before this I just can't give this more than 2.5.

Technicality? What technicality? BOO's debut album leaves the listener expecting more. "Brutal" riffs drive the album, with the quintessential chug-chug of any metalcore release. Their over-use of keyboards is the cause of their comparison to The Faceless. However, their use is distracting and unnecessary. The lack of technicality throughout the record is disappointing for a band labeled as "brutal". Poor overall.

Although Born Of Osiris is an act that properly uses odd time signatures like any technical band, using the word "progressive" with a band that barely has songs over 3 minutes seems like a contradiction. The use of synths in metal nowadays is not uncommon and it's more than likely always going to be the usual sawtooth or string sound but this band actually uses other sounds (not noise) as the base of their synth lines and it works pretty damn well.

Not choppy writing. I'd call it ..getting straight to the point. :]
Its good for people with short attention spans, like me. Same with the track lengths, although i do with there were one or two extra songs that were a bit longer. Amazing band though. Exciting, interesting, catchy and crushing!

These guys play a super heavy form of deathcore, that is well put together unlike some other bands in this realm of music. The vocalist is very understandable for the most part, and he compliments the quick time sig. changes very well. Furthermore the keyboard adds a great atmospheric feel to the music. Empires Erased has a crazy epic keyboard part. Any hardcore/metal hybrid enthusiast should definitely check out this album. For a bunch of guys all under 22, this is class stuff.
