| 3.0 good | Jared Floryan | May 17th 16 | Robots walking amongst humankind are still stricken with the revelation that they're unable to procreate, but on the plus side, their evolution privileges were never nullified. These machines adapt to change and get used to unfamiliar surroundings more or less like we mere mortals do - although it would appear that one of the automatons in the form of Dino Cazares didn't get the memo. Divine Heresy is an industrial groove metal project conceived by the Fear Factory guitarist alongside John Sankey, the latter of whom didn't contribute to the band's debut album. Entitled Bleed the Fifth, this Los Angeles-based outfit isn't doing anything the listeners haven't heard before, and DH wear their influences akin to a space bear fitting snugly into the nearest meteor. The three-piece ensemble's first full-length falls prey to threadbare composition ideas as well as an uneven vocal performance via Tommy "Vext" Cummings. While it does have its fair share of issues, Bleed the Fifth is an otherwise fun record providing enjoyable musicianship thanks to drummer Tim Yeung and Cazares' contributions. Divine Heresy's freshman affair serves as gym music, basically speaking. Angel recommends: "This Threat Is Real," "Rise of the Scorned," "False Gospel," and "Closure".

| 2.5 average | SHOOTME | August 15th 08 | Fear Factory guitarist Dino left the band to create something new, but with Divine Heresy, he doesn't do that one bit. Divine Heresy's Bleed The Fifth pretty much sounds like Fear Factory mixed with Pantera, with a tad more technicality in the guitars and drums. Dino's guitars and Tim's drums are speedy and brutal, and work together excellently. But Tom's vocal work feels incredibly awkward in this situation, containing weak harsh vocals and some good cleans that don't fit the songs at all. Overall this is an attempt from Fear Factory guitarist Dino to make something creative, and he fails at that, but what he does is make some decent Groove Metal for the whole family.

| 3.0 good | Coma1996 | October 22nd 07 | 'Bleed The Fifth' has everything present to make it a pretty good debut album. However the major flaw is that the songs feel like they were constructed and developed by Dino, with some influence from Tim on Drums and then once Dino is completely happy everything else kinda has to mould itself around the guitar. Tommy's vocal melodies feel dis-jointed and as if he wrote and recorded in specific sections to already complete songs. As good as this album is produced, this album lacks a true band sound.
