It's been an evolution of sorts for Cody Foster in the past eight years. Initially, his lyricism consisted of very intimate and depressed lines, usually with complex rhyme patterns, dealing with the problems and questions associated with depression and anxiety. Apparently, during this search for answers, he's become jaded and frustrated, opting for lyrical themes that reflect this newfound cynicism. Ultraviolet was the beginning of this, but Salo Sessions is a continuation that follows this ethos much tighter. The production is much cloudier and more shrouded than before, echoing Sadistik's mindset very well. As a standalone release, it's definitely a bit tamer than a full-length in this style, but it's going to be interesting to see what improvements he'll implement if and when that full-length comes. Until then, this is a decent enough preview.

I really like this release. It's dark with a lot of atmosphere. I'm not a hip hop fan, but I'm a Sadistik fan.

This feels like Sadistik throwing all of his ideas against the wall and seeing what sticks. Turns out barely anything at all here. It feels chaotic, to be sure, but definitely not in a good way. Just check out 'Out the Dark' and call it a day.

I really hope this isn't the sound that we'll find on his next project. boring and uninspired. 1.5-
