Singer-songwriter Rachel Platten's major-label debut basically confirms that, while the woman is indeed competent and possesses decent vocals, the material which makes up this album is typical modern pop fluff. Wildfire depicts someone who has yet to come into her own, and this blatant lack of distinctiveness works against Platten. The structuring of the tracks is bland as all get out and the composition choices are too safe; if anything, the songwriting is so unadventurous that it really makes me ponder if this 34-year-old chick is afraid to take any risks. Platten's trying too hard to stray from an even remotely unconventional, arguably more entertaining approach to her music.

Fight Song is a nice single, but everything else is blander than watching paint dry. Sucks because she could've filled the role of 'quirky' pop singer with the stuff on her first album

Wildfire by Rachel Platten has made me realize the line between good and bad electropop is not as fine as I'd thought. In fact it is a very wide line. Wildfire is poor or at best generic in every aspect with extremely predictable song structure, overused big time pop beats, unoriginal melodies, intense shiny polishing of everything and at times beyond cringe inducing lyrics. Listening to this a second time was hard to say the least. Avoids the awful category because there are a few decent moments and Platten certainly has potential with her singing skills but just about every other choice sounds years behind other pop stars and devoid of originality. Rachel is riding the coat tails of other billboard toppers and it is clear as day.

She's cute and crush worthy, but obviously the music industry is just using her good looks. There's no talent
shown here. The music is as bland as can be, which could be worse than plain awful.
