Basically what you'd get if you mixed the God of War soundtrack with modern death metal. If that sounds cool it's because it is.

Enjoyably grandiose death metal. It carries on longer than it feels, and combined with some sloppy moments, does drag the overall experience down a bit. For what it's worth, however, King is a stellar offering that's sure to impress with a few key highlights.

At times it does almost stray into an indecipherable mess, but when it works Fleshgod Apocalypse's brand of stupidly over-the-top orchestral death metal has no comparisons. Also it's a vast improvement on their last album, because they actually slow things down at times to allow the music (and the listener) room to breathe, if only for a moment.

This is an awesome mix of sounds. I guess I'd describe it as symphonic industrial metal. Some of the symphonic parts are actually quite pretty while most of the metal is some good pounding stuff with nice guttural vocals.
