chiodos. lots of genres mixed with that band some people hate them some people love them i love them well this album is one of the first albums I've listened to from them but now I'm more experienced in them so I'll write a review about it okay first off on the list is sort of the album titled track "is it progression if a cannibal uses a fork" now the first thing you may or may not notice is how dark the title of the song and lyrics of the song are now this might sound really stupid and i know I'm gonna probably get insulted about it but really this song has no meaning it just has a goth/catchy tune with basically meaningless words except for the chorus "out of tune this tale of terror the solemn tolling of the funeral bells i wanna know whats going on in that pretty little head of yours where every day is a bone palace ballet" now that really doesn't even elude to anything and i'm probably 100% off base here but it kind of sounds like maybe a girlfriend? anyway next off the list is the infamous "Lexington(joey pea-pot with a monkey face)" okay this is a love story now but what some of the lyrics elude to you may ask? well it's about his girlfriend dumping him and now he won't leave her alone so it seems? is there a plot to the story? i don't know but what i do know is that this is a good song that clearly a bunch of people like it(me being one) next off the list is "bull's make money etc.etc." okay catchy tune now this song stands out above others its a love song a lovely one at best but with a twist to the lyrics such as "take back what's just leave me in it and everything that i believe in she's shaking she's shaking please act surprised" please act suprised for what? i don't know but none the less this is a good song that should get it's moment of fame. okay then there are the songs like "a letter from janelle" and "intensity in ten cities" these are emotional and lyrical songs and a favorite of mine as well as many other people then there are more hardcore songs like "teeth the size of piano keys" and "if i cut my hair hawaii will sink" these are a favorite of mine also as well as other hardcore/post-hardcore fans of chiodos while most people enjoy there older albums such as "alls well that ends well" this is a good album none the less and i reccomend getting it if your a chiodos newbie or veteran.

Wow i've never seen so many people hating on Chiodos at one time. I honesty love Craig's vocals. I have to admit i thought it was a women the first time i ever heard them but they are great and the fact that he also has a decent scream makes it even better. I thought All's Well That End's Well had better songs though, even with the annoying interludes and prelude. Still this is a great cd with a lot of originality. If you haven't heard it i would suggest you have a listen.

(4/16/18): For an album with the word 'bone' in its title, Davison-based group Chiodos' sophomore release didn't have as much cartilage as Craigery and company thought it did. Despite an increase in classical elements and rock-isms, Bone Palace Ballet ain't some big improvement over the preceding LP; if anything, it's a bit more annoying to sit through. A lot of the tracks here would be nice to listen to if it weren't for some half-assed compositional choices and, uh... Craig. At least All's Well That Ends Well had Bradley Bell laying down fairly delicious synth work plus the interludes helped break up whatever monotony was there. If there's two songs I can recommend the most off this record, it would have to be "Intensity in Ten Cities" and "The Undertaker's Thirst for Revenge Is Unquenchable". Everything else ranges from okay to insufficient.

Extremely disappointing i think sums up what this album was. They became over produced and just like every other band out there. Only a few tracks actually stand out, they lost their raw-ness and passion. I think they could have just pulled to really good songs from this record and made an EP and i would have loved it but Bone Palace you dropped the ball.

some of these songs are really good. my favorites are "a letter for janelle" and "the undertaker's....." but.... just like their first album, chiodos fails to make a solid and complete set of songs.

Credit must be given to Chiodos for taking every risk possible and coming up with a talented and original album. Although much criticism could be offered, Craig Owen's style is his own, and he delivers it well. His performances are known for their incredible display of vocal talent and control over its high pitched vocals (intertwined with skipping parts to rest his vocal chords).
The best pieces off this album are Lexington (most accessible Chiodos song), Bulls Make Money, and Teeth the Size of Piano Keys. Weakest moment during the album, Intensity in Ten Cities.

You've gotta give Chiodos credit for their experimentation. This album is a step up from "All's Well That Ends Well," in a sense that it's much more memorable. A step in the right direction: away from any typical rock album you've seen before.

Chiodos shows their capability of progression in Bone Palace Ballet. They provide more melodic tracks, such as "Lexington (Joey Pea-Pot with a Monkey Face.)", while still sticking beside their post-hardcore roots with "Bulls Make Money, Bears Make Money, Pigs Get Slaughtered". A strong effort by one of the genre's most unique and talented bands.

It's as if half the songs they put all their heart into, like intensity and the undertaker's thirst...but then songs like, if i cut my hair hawaii will sink and i didn't say i was powerful just disgust me...this album is good but way too inconsistent..

I was quite excited for this album, hearing lexington and the undertakers thirst for revenge encouraged me to buy it. I have to say i wasn't too dissapointed, but the ballads they put into the album wasn't what i was expecting, for example 'a letter from janelle'. I think this whole album was far too slow, and much less fun than AWTEW, it seemed they were trying to be too serious.
Also they are decent musicians, but craigs voice is quite an aquired taste, you either love or hate it, i suppose. They experimented with strings a bit too much. But i think this album is quite good;
