Liking this new Black Keys album, but where's the new Cage the Elephant album?

Tell Me I'm Pretty dials down on the intensity and leftfield influences these guys had. Full of good songs, but damn shame these songs are safe.

Okay... Someone explain to me, what just happened? A band w/ potential from their last 2 albums and then they suddenly backtracked to create an album that barely ties w/ their 1st album. This album has little to no energy in comparison to the rest of this group's entire discography...

Steeping themselves even deeper into their influences than ever before, Tell Me I'm Pretty looks to mesh psychedelic sounds with the blues rock they've always skirted around. The end result is just too soft and boring for these guys.

I wasn't that impressed with Cage The Elephant before 2013's Melophobia, which was a great record, because the style of the band seemed all too preoccupied with recapturing the magic of a sound that wasn't theirs. They came into their own with their last album, but this album is a regression. Most of the songs here are just nice, but not memorable at all (I guess you could say they go in one ear and right out the other). No songs reach the lows of Thank You, Happy Birthday, but that record also had a few excellent songs on it. Tell I'm Pretty has "Trouble" as a standout, and everything else is relatively dull by comparison. I'd hoped they wouldn't turn back on the path they were beginning to forge with Melophobia, but that unfortunately seems to be the case here. It's not bad, but it is certainly a disappointment.

Yawn. There's really nothing more to say about this album except that Dan's influences rubbed off on them in the worst possible way. Much like how Danger Mouse's influences rubbed off Dan in the worst possible way.rJust a giant bunch of boringness. boring boring boring boring.
