| 3.0 good | conditionals | January 18th 17 | I really like 'Fast Cars', 'Rickety-Rackety' and 'Food, Clothes, Medicine' but don't feel the other rtracks. Definition of hit or miss for me. I'm more into Aesop Rock's later stuff, and this is the first roccasion of his later style appearing IMO, especially production wise.

| 3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | April 2nd 16 | In a style unmistakably Def Jux, Aesop Rock approaches his third EP with a manner similar to his fourth LP, Bazooka Tooth. This means heavily veiled lyrics, self-produced beats similar in technique to collaborator El-P, and a nice repertoire of flows. As such, Fast Cars, Danger, Fire, And Knives feels more like an extension of Bazooka Tooth than its own singular entity. This is by no means a bad thing, as Bazooka Tooth was a great record, but it does mark a bit of a stagnant period for Aes, as he began to exhaust this facet of his creative hip-hop mind. It's good to note that this would go on signify a change for him, as he showed on his next record, None Shall Pass.

| 3.5 great | 40winks | February 24th 09 | Buy it just for holy smokes. Such a well written song about religion. The other songs don't truly live up to holy smokes, but they are still aesop rock so there is still plenty of quality to be had.

| 3.5 great | OdinsProgeny | June 7th 08 | I bought this EP, cuz it came with a lyric book for it, and his previous 3 albums. That alone was worth the price, as me and my friend Dave have spent many an afternoon trying to read through it out loud.
Not his best work, as it is in his post-Bazooka tooth, more rap-sounding style. But the songs are, as always, fun to listen to. My favorite track is Zodiaccupuncture.

| 3.5 great | bobafe6604 | August 30th 07 | Aesop Rock returns with more crazy, "What did he just say?" lyrics. Once again, if you don't have them in front of you or memorized, you will not be able to catch anything. Aesop is a smart cat and he's not afraid to preach. I recommend this only for the die-hard hip-hop listener who is tired of the mainstream trash. If you want a little substance in your musical taste, dial up some Aesop Rock.
