| 4.5 superb | Jared Floryan | February 19th 16 | People can tell you otherwise, but Richmond, Virginia is both literally and figuratively a dark hellhole disguised as some unassuming location. The population is mentally stable at first glance, but then you opt to dig deeper and deeper until you come to the realization that Richmond's folks are hurting. Lil Ugly Mane is one of those people, and I'll be damned if Oblivion Access doesn't do an amazing job at showcasing that. By no means is the 2015 album listener-friendly, and in no way is it a joyous walk on the rainbow. With remarkable abrasiveness, interesting unpredictability, and an urge to poop, Lil Ugly Mane churned out a genuine record that warrants multiple listens; said listens will be all worthwhile.

| 4.5 superb | Alabaster Jones | December 21st 15 | Right from the beginning track of Oblivion Access, you know this album is going to be different from his other projects. The album is noisy, uncompromising, and absolutely scathes lyrically. There are no inherently catchy songs, and things are even more unpredictable than before. The production is excellent, as usual, but we also see one of Ugly's most enraged moments both from a rapping standpoint and a producing one on the ending trio of songs. He sounds absolutely vicious on "Slugs", and his production is cacophonous on "Compliance". "Intent And Purulent Discharge" mixes those two qualities in addition to being quite unnerving. In the end, it's all about what or who's oblivion we are given access to. In this case, it's Ugly's, and it is truly an excellent album from all fronts and a perfect send-off for one of the best artists in the underground from this decade.

| 4.0 excellent | Erwann S. EMERITUS | December 11th 19 | Existential horrorcore; or where Travis Miller kills Lil Ugly Mane. This is LUM's most depressive-sounding record (still less depressing than bedwetter), as it's much less boastful and tongue-in-cheek (Grave Within a Grave, Collapse and Appear, damn). This overall bleakness, though well transcribed in the lyrics, is more importantly relying much more on industrial and sound collage than the Memphis-sounding Mista Thug Isolation. Even though this is an amazing release, if I want to listen to Miller's depression, I'd rather go with Bedwetter. And when I'm in need of the dgaf Travis, I'd rather go with MTI.

| 4.0 excellent | Finn Baker | January 20th 16 | As long as the listener keeps that mindset, the idea that this album isn't supposed to be pretty,
they'll get something interesting. It's not all great, not by a long shot, but it's worth a listen.
