I'm not a JB nor a pop hater, but this album, even if production is not so bad, totally lacks consistency. Melodies are completely flat and dull, lyrics are nothing interesting at all, and Justin has a really boring voice. There are worse album in this world, but anyway this is not worth a listen.

Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber is... well, let's just say he is a rather polarizing icon and leave it at that. Though it's by no means a fantastic comeback release, I'd be lying if I said Bieber's latest studio offering Purpose wasn't a step in the right direction. His vocals here are actually pleasurable, while the general production is snappy and suits this relatively focused version of Justin himself. Honestly, my score would be higher if not for the ridiculous chunk of filler; for example, "No Pressure" and "The Feeling" are two numbers I feel that drag the quality of the LP down (the latter especially), whilst "Life Is Worth Living" doesn't do much of anything worthwhile. Purpose could've worked way better as a mere EP, but as it is now, it's certainly acceptable. There ain't a need to chuck water bottles and Sour Patch Kids at Justin anymore.

This wore off on me quite a bit... the strong tracks are still strong, but they're brought down by a lot of ballads and preachy tracks that frankly feel like filler.

Some of the lyrics are melodramatic trash, sure, but overall this is a solid pop record with catchy hooks, nice vocals and good beats. Would have benefited from some streamlining though, because it's a touch longer than it really needs to be.

For me this is probably the first full Beebz album I listened to. And while I've probably watched the video for Sorry more times that I'd like to admit (that girl in the green top is just pure fire). It's hard to ignore some seriously catchy songs on this album. However I still feel like J.Beebz is making his music primarily for the young females as it's always been. Sure his fans are older now and so is he, and he's definitely improved, I no longer immediately turn off his music when I hear it. But aside from a few songs the album does little to grab my attention. I think Skrillex producing the album definitely helped a bunch.

It's a shame that this record can't capitalize on the strength of it's singles. "Where Are U Now?" is one of the enduring pop songs of this year, a kind of whispered lament backed by great production, including an awesome #flutedrop chorus from Skrillex and Diplo. The other two singles achieved less lofty but still enjoybale success by repeating the same formula, but unfortunately, "Purpose" mostly splits it's time between flaccid trap-pop du jour ("Company" "No Sense") and straight overwrought nonsense ("Mark My Words", "Children"). By the time you're done listening, you'll be longing so much for some attitude, any attitude, that you'll almost wish the Biebz was back to street racing ferraris and peeing in mop buckets.

My apologies as this is my first review after years of reading but I was finally motivated through music to provide an actual submission. To save the time of those trying to comb the greatness that is the new Justin Bieber album, Purpose, the following songs are worth playing:
- Mark My Words (and it's pretty short!)
- What Do You Mean?: Because girl, what do you mean? You nod your head yes, but you wanna say no. So nod your head no. This is where the confusion around rape and consensual sex arises from.
- Love Yourself: "My momma don't like you and she likes everyone.."
- Company: Because it's more romantic than asking a girl to be a booty call. Can we, be each others company? Thanks to the Biebs I have a new pickup line to add to my arsenal.
- No Pressure: Repetitive but a boot knocker. Subliminal messages during makeout sessions for the win. Plus there's a cameo by Big Sean and nothing says romance like Big Sean.
- Purpose: I swore I was listening to Coldplay when the song started. The perfect song when you sprain your emo-bone.
- We Are: The song with the most thump when you want to bump that Bieber for the ladies with the top down and your system turned up. I think Nas even pops in to do Nas things.
