Honestly, I don't know why I gave a shot to this band.
It's nothing special. it's just one of those pop-punk bands, that should'nt even be considered punk.
Aside from shut it down, contention and chop shop, it's pretty much going the same way as New Found Glory. So, you are completely right and don't exaggerate a bit when you say that it's pop. I don't know why bands want to be punk and somewhat refused by society and at the same time, recieve prizes from MTV (yes, I'm talking to you Green Day) and be world wide famous.
This doesn't sound bad...anyway...
This is just another band seeking success out of punk. The song punk rawk celebrity pretty much says it all- they simply want to be an instrument for the masses.

It took me awhile to realize this but Mxpx suck. Panic was a decent album with like two memorable songs but their attempts at being a legitimate voice for our culture have been laughable and Secret Weapon is much the same. Every bright spot is out shun by lack of intelligence and inspiration; a quality that they have shown throughout their career.
Basically if you�ve heard one Mxpx album you�ve heard them all and when they say Secret Weapon has more edge all it means is their guitars are played a bit heavier.
The only time they should be brought up in conversation is if you are making fun of them, questioning how the lead singer�s �tats� are going to look in twenty years or if you mocking the memorable anthem Responsibility.
