Cavern Guide is the fifth entry in Buckethead's Days Til Halloween series, and the 180th Pike he has released. There is a larger focus on his ambient guitar playing this time around, making this release is very similar to Visitor From the Mirror, the first Halloween Pike. While it's nice to hear a layered performance that marries his bizarre guitar playing with eerie ambience, it drags on endlessly. There are interesting sonic ideas peppered across Cavern Guide, but they are continuously coupled with baffling, unpleasant, and jarring sections.
