While the flaws are obvious (somehow predictable, instrumentation is just a vehicle for Serj's voice etc.) the songs are extremely catchy and very memorale. Can't help myself, this just feels very strong, even after years of listening.

Serj is unstoppable,and with Elect the Dead he brings us his own unique sound.What more is there to say,only that it is catchy and politically charged and if you liked System of a Down at all then this is worth checking out.

Serj Tankian's first foray into solo work leaves listeners confused. This isn't System of a Down and the eclectic styles and songs are a mixed bag. But if one can look past a few inconsistencies, this is a greatly enjoyable record.

A truly fantastic album by Ex-SOAD singer Serj. He brought out this one and only album with amazingly catchy tracks on, all created around the same political-style lyricism as System did previously - just don't take it too seriously. This album I simply could not stop listening to for a long time. If you're a fan of his sound, you really should be buying this.rA few disappointing songs on the album, along with a few less-than-decent riffs and singing sections bring this rating down a little. Recommended tracks include Empty Walls and Feed Us - give them a listen before you buy.

I have always been a fan of this man's voice. He's so good that he just makes Daron sound that much worse. So the vocals on Elect the Dead are guaranteed to be great; no worries there. What about his songwriting? Well, not much has changed since his System days; it's still that quirky, political madness he's known for. The problem? Somewhere along the way, he lost the ability to be interesting. I have never been so bored listening to something Serj Tankian is involved with. Perhaps the saddest thing about this album is even though each song has its own identity, most of them are so boring that despite being unique, they all run together. Have you seen the video for "Sky is Over"? It seems he has run out of creative ideas in all areas. Even the greatest fall out of their prime eventually.

Serj's "Elect The Dead" is hard to catorgorise a specific genre, although you can see the System Of A Down influence to the album. I wouldn't suggest buying it , I found it a One Time Listen.
Everybody looks Forward to hearing Serj Tankian's Vocals but the rest of the music brings its standard right down.You might as well be listening to the Highly political and influential SOAD.

System of a Down are a hard band to categorize, yet have entertained me and many of my peers for many years, with their unique blend of nu-metal-esque rock with the occasional polka influence and social activism thrown in for good measure.
Unfortunately, lead singer Tankian has produced an effort that is nothing more than a poor caricature of what his band does much better. It's average, at times promising, but mostly silly.

Words cannot express how disappointing this album is. Such a humongous step down from System of a Down, with no catchy guitar riffs but twice the whiny complaining about hypocrisy and government.

This album is pretty crappy. System of a Down is pretty cool, but these songs all sound like songs SOAD wouldn't want to play. The lyrics are horrible, especially "The Unthinking Majority" His voice sounds awful, and the part about "anti-depressants" sounds like something a 12 year-old would sing. Awful.
This album will show you how to make sub-par rock music while still being really annoying. I wouldn't reccomend buying it at all.
