Don't know how to exactly rate this but it's better than TWDA. The songs are more interesting, the vocal melodies are catchy and there's a lot more variation in the styles of vocals.

There are a lot of great moments sprinkled throughout this new album. Unfortunately, as a whole, the album really doesn't bring anything more than what BoO has already brought to the table, only this time it is less interesting. Sure there are more technical songs on here, and there are definitely a few songs that stick out among Born of Osiris' best work, but for the most part everything seems like more of the same, only with less of what made me fall in love with the band in the first place. Not a bad album, but definitely not on the same level as their previous releases (I even liked TWDA better than this one). 7/10

Mid 5 out of 10: This is really one of the most "whatever" LPs I have listened to. This seriously did nothing good or bad for me, it was just...whatever. I already accepted that BoO wasn't going to release something Discovery level, so I really don't care. This is probably the last LP I check out from these guys, because I barely even decided to check this one out.

Born of Osiris sounds reinvigorated on Soul Sphere. This is more or less the album Tomorrow We Die Alive should have been, a slice of synth-heavy progressive metal with more of a melodic emphasis. Unfortunately, the clean vocals are a bit hit or miss, and the complicated rhythms mixed with keyboard parts can wear thin when listening all the way through. However, this display of excellent musicianship, and it's overall catchy nature will definitely appeal to the fans, myself included. 3.6/5

While definitely not the spiritual sequel to The Discovery that numerous folks have been clamoring for, owing more to Tomorrow We Die Alive than that record, progressive deathcore quintet Born of Osiris' fourth studio album is a step up in quality (even though it's not that big an improvement). Soul Sphere doesn't really have a whole lot to prove, although I can say that it at least has a fair deal of replay value and okay songwriting. Angel recommends: "Illuminate," "Tidebinder," "Goddess of the Dawn," "Warlords," and "The Composer". Fucking bow down!

Sounds like TWDA with a few more melodic guitar parts and groove riffs. Unfortunately theres not that many guitar solos but the ones included are at least well executed. People expecting a "A New Reign","The Discovery" hybrid will be disappointed
