This is by far some of the most interesting music metal has to offer. Some bands try too hard to experiment at the expense of good songwriting, a trend which Deathspell Omega all but follows. How can I describe this black metal mindfuck in words, rate it thereafter and make it justice? I think one has to hear it to fully get the picture but get this; if this isn't the most vile music out there I'm not even sure if I want to hear its superior.

At the time of release, Fas - Ite, Maledicti took DSO's already unparallelled and otherworldy evil to a whole other level, and still stands their magnum opus. The band's now signature turgid, winding guitar leads and highly technical drumming form a dark and confusing world that pummels the listener with frenetic and dissonant black metal only to stop on a dime and reveal pure and ominous tension with near silent, ambient interludes. This is the most creative take on black metal this decade.

This is the most technical Black Metal band I have ever laid ears on. Great drumming, guitars, vocals, UGH! Just, everything is so masterfully crafted. My favorite track is "The Shrine of Mad Laughter"
